An Alcoholic Goes To Alcohol Rehabilitation And Gets Alcohol Detox And Rehabilitation For His Alcoholism
Donald used to boast to his buddies how he could work at a full-time job and get drunk almost every night. Unfortunately, after maintaining this party lifestyle for around three years, he began to display numerous alcohol related problems.

For example, he had a real difficult time getting up for work because he felt so tired when he awoke. Not only this, but most mornings Donald experienced a very bad hangover. It was apparent that the combination of his lack of get-up-and-go and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel motivated to go to work. To make matters worse, around a week ago he received his second DUI in the past three months.

To compound things further, at his place of employment his last two performance appraisals were less than satisfactory. And lastly, his two-year relationship with his girlfriend had deteriorated due to his lack of patience, financial difficulties, angry outbursts, and his depression.

Although Donald was only twenty-eight years old, he simply began looking like he was in his mid forties. Unfortunately, this is what abusive and careless drinking can do to a person. And in truth he realized that he was experiencing the negative effects of alcohol abuse or alcoholism and that he was too young to squander his life to careless and excessive drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Sadly, he soon found out that he lost all control after consuming his first drink. Due to the fact that this was a situation that was repeated over and over again, this concerned him greatly. In truth, he began to wonder if he was displaying some of the stages of alcoholism.

After going over his alcohol drinking problems and his careless drinking with his girlfriend, he finally made up his mind to make an appointment to see his doctor. When Donald saw his doctor, he sincerely confirmed that he has been drinking in a hazardous manner, that he may be exhibiting behavior characteristic of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to abstain from drinking. He said that drinking in moderation does not seem to work for him and as a result, he wants to learn how he can live an alcohol-free life.

Donald also told his doctor about his depression and how this mental health problem was negatively affecting his relationship with his lady friend. His family doctor referred Donald to Doctor Lenson, a drug and alcohol addiction specialist, who persuaded Donald to enroll in a drug and alcohol treatment facility as an in-patient for alcohol detox and alcohol rehab. The good news is that Donald would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this facility.

After five months of intensive rehab, Donald left the residential treatment facility and continued his recovery via outpatient therapy and via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Motivated to change his life in a more positive direction, Donald joined a gym and began working out three or four times per week. Within seven months Donald was a new man. He was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most significant of all, he maintained his sobriety for many months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more loving person in his relationship with his lady friend. Stated briefly, stopping drinking was the best decision Donald had ever made.
