I've always loved models. When I was a kid, I collected all manner of them. I had model airplanes, automobiles, boats, trains - you think of it I had it. They want a model that shows the whole surrounding area together with the building. This gives background to the overall vision, and makes it seem as if it has already sprung to life. Despite all the advances of modern tech, there is still only one way to make an architectural scale-model: by hand. Sure, there are some benefits that we have that prior generations did not. This job is a dream come true, and I am glad it cannot be done more effectively by equipment. I think it will be a long time before anybody figures out a different way to do it. If it were simply a matter of assembly line manufacturing architectural scale miniatures, it would be a different story. You could make one design and have it stamped out by a machine. But each architectural scale-model is custom-ordered, and so each must be custom-made.
